Dear Katherine, (and Stephen and Lydia),

I'm glad to say that World University and School recently began developing in Miraheze Mediawiki - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org (in August) - and will soon potentially be in all 295 languages of Wikipedia, as wiki schools for open teaching and learning, and then as online major universities in nation states' official languages. This came about partly because WUaS donated itself to Wikidata in October 2015, and then began developing in Mediawiki from January 2016-March 2016 (but which then stopped working). Since then Mediawiki has developed and come together, and World University and School is very grateful to be able to develop further again in Mediawiki. Thank you.

I was glad also to hear too in this Wikimedia 2030 panel - https://youtu.be/Gdr2F8aB9y0 - (with you Katherine!) the mention of Wikimedia thinking of/planning for 7,000 languages, and also to hear Magnus Manske talking of MediaWiki coming together further. I tweeted about this here - https://twitter.com/sgkmacleod/status/905564314760765441 - and was glad too that Magnus read and liked this Tweet. (I also blogged a bit about this recently here - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2017/09/bee-orchid-claire-young-young-scots.html).

This Wikimedia 2030 panel is the first time I've heard the Wikipedia / Wikimedia movement talk of 7,000 languages, (each of which CC WUaS again is planning as academic markets) - and potentially building out of CC-0 Wikisource, which is CC-0 commercially-licensed (per Lydia in January 2017). By way of comparison, CC-4 licensed MIT OpenCourseWare in its 7 languages, which is a cornerstone of non-profit World University and School's upcoming online universities in all ~200 countries' official languages, allows for  "sharing," "adapting," but is "non-commercial," (per MIT Associate Dean of Digital Learning
, Cecilia d'Oliveira) - and WUaS must post these MIT licensing clarifications on all of our CC-4 web pages at top here - worlduniversityandschool.org.

As you may also know, World University and School "forked" successfully - as A) non-profit World University and School and B) for-profit WUaS Corporation - incorporating the WUAS Corporation in April 2017 as a general stock company (again planned in 200 countries' official languages to support with educational services World University and School's major universities, and to support our wiki schools in all 7,099 living languages, as academic markets) and with planned online bookstores and academic presses among ten planned revenue streams - http://worlduniversityandschool.blogspot.com/2017/06/wuas-corporations-10-planned-for-profit.html (of these 14 planned revenue streams - http://worlduniversityandschool.blogspot.com/2016/01/14-planned-wuas-revenue-streams.html).

I'm writing to explore whether the Wikimedia Foundation and World University and School / the WUaS Corp could collaborate / partner please in some of these developments / and upcoming information technological developments, partly even by the WMF "taking ownership" of some of these opportunities and developments? Katherine, what please might/would be the best way to communicate further about this? Besides these developments above, there are quite a few other related developments/potentialities in a related vein that I'm blogging about and which also Lydia has posted a bit about (such as a Q-item as a business card, which I re-posted here, for example - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2017/09/rosa-tor-talk-is-there-any-societal-use.html) about which it could be great to talk about further as well.

Thank you.

Best regards,
Scott

- CC World University and School - like CC Wikipedia with best STEM-centric CC OpenCourseWare - incorporated as a nonprofit university and school in California, and is a U.S. 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt educational organization.
